Yeah Cougar Town!! ABC Preview - Courtney Cox is Back!!

Today I decided to throw in yet another review of the short preview of the upcoming 'Cougar Town' coming to ABC this fall (Wednesdays at 9:30).

I LOVE IT!! I've always been a fan of Courtney Cox who is playing a 40 year old divorcee pushed out into the dating world by her friends and meets a man 14 years her junior. It looks fun, feisty and gives us the Courtney Cox we've all loved from her 'Friends' days. Oh, and the Cougar is the local H.S Mascot.

It's got a lot of material to work with, her neighbor, her friends, dating younger men and the hot fellow divorcee across the street from her with his string of young college co-eds always leaving his residence (at least that's the impression I get from the preview).

I really do hope that this show does well. It looks like a lot of fun. I only wonder why this show is 1/2 hour long because I think I will want a lot more. This one looks like a winner and I hope it's as good as its preview.

Some 'Grey's' news, Wipeout , SYTYCD and More!

Well, a few weeks ago I blogged about news of Brian Austin Green in talks to join the cast of 'One Tree Hill'. Turns out that the talks fell through. A deal couldn't be reached and so Green will not be joining the cast. Robert Buckley (Lipstick Jungle) will be playing that character. Maybe I should start watching that show. They have yummy eye candy on it.

'I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here' is averaging about 4.17M viewers. I have been watching it and find it somewhat interesting, but it's just okay. That Dickenson chick is wacko! I like Lou Diamond Phillips and I kind of feel sorry for Patty and what she is going through with her husband and the politics of it all. She does seem like a nice person. I don't think it is going to come back next summer. What would be really really interesting is if they got huge stars to do that show. Like, let's get Courtney Cox, Jennifer Aniston, Julia Roberts, Brad Pitt, Mathew McConaughey.. stars like THAT on the show. It won't ever happen. Those stars have way too much respect and credibility in the business to tarnish themselves or their careers in such a manner. But we can dream.

'So You Think You Can Dance' continues to be a ratings gem this summer at 8.7M viewers. It actually took the #1 spot ahead of Wipeout at #2. SYTYCD makes me cry, especially when there is such a beautiful routinelike the very first hip hop number and that beautiful contemporary number to an old Richard Marx song. I believe Tony Bellissimo and his partner are in trouble of elimination. They were the only couple that I truly wasn't feeling last night. I also have to add, why must Mary Murphy scream so much? It's so grating. If the dancing weren't so good and so moving, I wouldn't watch simply because here screaming is getting extremely irritating. It bothered me last season and every year she seems to step it up a notch (unfortunately!). No worries though, I'm looking forward to next weeks routines. This year has a good crop of dancers that it's almost hard to tell who is going to go and who is going to stay!

'Wipeout' came in #2 last night. What a treat it was having 2 hours back to back. I have not yet watched the entire second hour , as it got really late and I needed to sleep (it was 2am when I finally pulled myself away ). I initially was going to save it to watch tonight but thought .. eh I'll watch just a little. Well, I just couldn't pull myself away. Once again I was laughing so hard I cried. I think it's a safe bet that 'Wipeout' will be back for a third season next year.

In case you haven't heard yet ABC announced the dates for premieres of it's new season. 'Grey's Anatomy' will start on 9/24,' Desperate Housewives' 9/27 followed by 'Brothers & Sisters' on 9/27. Mark you calendars!

'Raising the Bar' ratings down, 'Nurse Jackie' Picked up for 2nd Season & More

TNT's Closer had a great opening this past Monday, according to news on THR.com. 'Raising the Bar', however, dropped 53%. Uh oh. I really do like' Raising the Bar'. Man , I wish Nielsen would come into my home.

I finally caught up and watched 'Nurse Jackie 'the other day (episodes 1 and 2 on Demand). I like it, and apparently so does the rest of the country. It was Showtime's most watched season premiere ever. As a result, 'Nurse Jackie' was already picked up for a second season. If you missed it, it's really gritty and probably the most "real" medical drama out there. Has a nice dark humor. Showtime seems to do dark humor quite well ('Dexter' has some humor and 'United States of Tara' ). What you'll find interesting is that Nurse Jackie had 1.35M viewers see it's premiere (it actually had 1M at it's first showing, and 1.35M at it's repeat hour), and it was picked up. Meanwhile shows on network stations that get 5M viewers are canceled. Interesting huh?

Fox is creating a reality series called 'More to Love' to be hosted by the plus size model Emma. It will be a dating show for "average people". Ah.. refreshing change. Getting bored with watching Barbie & Ken dolls on the 'Bachelor & Bachelorette'. There are some other dating/relationship type shows coming this fall , including 'The Marriage Ref' on NBC, 'Arranged Marriage' on CBS and 'Dating in the Dark' from ABC this summer (July 20Th). The one that truly sounds the most interesting is 'The Marriage Ref' from Jerry Seinfeld. It's being billed as an unscripted look at marriage as celebrities, comedians and sport stars decide who is right and who is wrong in disputes of real life everyday couples. That should be fun. Perhaps if my husband and I have a squabble I'll call them. I'd love for them to send me some of my favorite celebrities to tell me I'm right (wink , wink). Wonder if they take requests and if so could they send Brad Pitt?

I'm looking forward to 'So You Think You Can Dance' tonight on Fox. ABC is giving us a special treat of 2 back to back new 'Wipeout' episodes due to the' Goode Family' being booted to Friday (TV death slot as a result of poor ratings). FYI , the 'I Survived A Japanese Game Show' premiere has been moved up to June 17Th from the original July 8Th premiere date to fill in for the moved 'Goode Family'.

Preview for ABC's 'The Forgotten' , My Name is Earl Moving to TBS, New 24 Cast Member & More

In continuing with my review of upcoming shows this fall today I looked at 'The Forgotten' that is slated for ABC Tuesdays at 10pm. The series stars Reiko Aylesworth (24), Rochelle Aytes, Michelle Borth, Anthony Carrigan, Rupert Perry-Jones, Grace Olivo and Bob Stephenson . Although, I hear from another review site that the two leads played by Reiko Aylesworth and Rupert-Perry Jones will be recast.

The premise of the story is not unfamiliar. Person found dead and unknown. You need to find out who she is, why she's dead and who killed her. The only difference between this and other cop shows is that the actual people doing the investigation are not cops but are regular average crime fighting citizens. The group calls themselves the Identity Network.

I've read two early reviews of the shows and according the them the show needs retooling. As one critic eluded to, it's predictable and if you watch enough shows like this it will be easy for you to figure out who did it.

I have to say I do not much like predictable. I like when a show kind of surprises me. Last nights episode of 'The Closer', one of my favorites, BTW, was disappointing last night. I immediately picked up on a few things and pretty much figured it out way early. The only excitement I got was watching how "right" I was about where the story was going. The Closer is usually NOT that predictable. If 'The Forgotten' is predictable without any twists to keep you guessing it won't be much fun to watch at least for me.

The show also looks a little grim and depressing. It's up against the new entry "The Good Wife" on CBS. If I had to chose (which fortunately I do not thanks to the DVR) Good Wife would be more appealing to me than yet another crime show.

As another little note, it is quite hard to review upcoming shows without actually seeing the full preview. Their job at the networks is to make the shows look good, and so far they are doing a good job.

In other little tidbits for today, I have some DVR catching up to do. For one, I'm still behind on 'I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here'. Honestly, it's not holding my interest enough. It's like the show that sits on my DVR and I'll watch it when I have nothing else to watch. I've been a little busy . Heidi and Spencer annoy me anyway and it's cheesy, really. In the ratings, it's holding at an average of 5.18M viewers.

I also haven't watched Nurse Jackie yet and tonight after I put my little boy to bed I'll cozy up on the couch and watch it. With all the hype, I hope it's good. I have to watch the Tony Awards that I recorded the other night too, because theater is a lot of fun and so I expect it will be fun to watch.

Raising the Bar was good last night. Mark Paul Gosselar is yummy. Speaking of, I caught a clip of him on the Jimmy Fallon show at EW.com. If you have a moment go and watch it. He appeared and interviewed with Fallon as his character Zack from 'Saved By The Bell'. Yes, I did watch that show and I'll admit it... LOL. I'm sure a lot of you did too ! You know you did! Anyway, the interview was hysterical and what a good sport he is. He's excellent on 'Raising the Bar' on TNT which is in its second season.

My Name Is Earl, cancelled from NBC's line up, is in talks to move to TBS. If sucessful it will be the second TV network show that was picked up by a cable network after a major network cancellation (Law & Order Criminal Intent was picked up by USA last year). The talks are in its early stages and so nothing is definate, but if you are an Earl fan ( I never got into that show) keep your fingers crossed.

And, my last bit of news today is that Kate Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica) is joining the cast of 24 as an expert CTU analyst with a secret past that is romantically involved with Freddie Prinze Jr's character.

Tonight looks like a good night to catch up on that DVR build up. Not much in the way of new programming on. I you are looking for something interesting, however, and you get BBC you might tune into the Apprentice UK. Jimmy Kimmel Live is on at 8pm on CBS and I may tune into the Real Housewives of NJ on Bravo, since I'd never seen the show but heard good things about it.
