DVR ALERT - Catch up on Seasons 1-3 of DEXTER so you can watch John Lithgow join the cast for Season 4

'Dexter' exclusive: John Lithgow nabs killer role

Dexter is an excellent show on Showtime. I must admit I did not watch the first or second season. It so happened that my husband, out of boredom, was searching for something to watch and came across the first season DVD set of Dexter. So, he purchased it and watched it and told me how great it was. So, when we moved and subscribed to cable, we chose Showtime as part of our package so that he can watch Dexter rather than wait for it to come out on DVD. I started watching with my husband and, despite my initial reaction to the premise of the show, I must admit it is a really good. It didn't hurt that I am a fan of Michael C. Hall from his Six Feet Under Days. I found that despite what he is, a serial killer, I began to root for Dexter. After all, he only kills bad people. That's his motto, that's his code. I bet we all wish that somewhere deep down inside there was such a person to rid this world of the bad people like child molesters , etc. I will admit that I was a little lost here in there because there were things that I missed having not seen the first season and the second season.

I came across the article above about John Lithgow joining the cast as a serial killer that comes to Miami. Lithgow plays crazy quite well and I do look forward to watching him.

For all those that have not been watching Dexter they are running all 3 seasons on Showtime starting tonight at 8pm with three back to back episodes and every Sunday thereafter throughout the summer. Great thing about subscription channels like Showtime is that you can watch the shows on demand and you do not have to use up space on your DVRs to watch it. Since they are running all three seasons, you should be able to get them on their on demand channel (because most often they do not have all the previous seasons available for viewing). If you haven't watched Dexter, I suggest you give it a try. Despite the turn off of the initial premise, it is quite a good show and Dexter is actually a character you can grow to like. I will be catching up to see exactly what I missed in Seasons 1 & 2.

P.S. - Hall was so good as the gay David Fisher on Six Feet Under that I thought he must be gay in his real life. Turns out he's not. He married his costar on Dexter, Jennifer Capenter, (who plays his on screen sister Debra Morgan) this past New Years Eve.
