CBS Legal Drama - The Good Wife - Looks Very DVR Worthy

This season CBS is adding the legal drama The Good Wife to it's line up on Tuesday's at 10pm opposite ABC's new show The Forgotten and NBC's The Jay Leno Show. It stars Julianna Margulies (ER) , Matt Czuchry (Friday Night Lights) and Christine Baranski (Ugly Betty).

Going by the preview and behind the scenes look I must say , it is looking good. First, it's great to see Julianna Margulies return to TV again with another legal drama after FOX's Canterbury Law was canceled. Canterbury's was an excellent show and Margulies was excellent in it. It was another good show that didn't survive. Chris Noth (Sex In the City) plays Peter, the husband of Margulies's character Alicia Flick, and a politician whose extra marital affairs become public and lands him in jail. Margulies's character then returns to practicing law. While there is law and legal issues going on within this show, the true focus is on Margulies's character Alicia.

It's obvious where the idea for the series came from (think Eliot Spitzer, John Edwards, Bill Clinton). While fictional, it does explore the behind- closed- doors- and -walls life of a woman in the aftermath of her husbands very public betrayal.

I believe this show is a keeper. The characters look well developed and it has an excellent cast with a mix of seasoned actors/actresses as well as a few fresh faces as the young attorneys that Margulies's character must contend with. It's in a good time slot and isn't competing against any already heavy hitters (depending on how Leno fairs at the earlier time slot). Now, let's hope that the rest of the American public agrees and this show goes the distance. Based on the preview, I give it a thumbs up!
