SPOILER ALERT: Lost Mystery Solved..ABC Promo Video has Monaghan .. What does it mean?

Spoiler alert: 'Lost' mystery solved!

Shared via AddThis

The above article was taken from EW Online. I had not seen this promo video yet that the article speaks about. But , had I seen it I might have thought that indeed a 'Lost' character was returning from the dead.

As it turns out, according to the piece, Monaghan is joining another hour long series on ABC this coming fall as a full time cast member but ABC wants to keep it a secret and make it a BIG surprise. According to the source at EW it WILL be a surprise and although she knows what it is, she agreed not to spill. I posted the cool little promo from ABC on the side of my blog.

So, my theory is that Monaghan is going to be joining the cast of Grey's Anatomy. I LOVE the idea, if that is indeed the case. I mean think about it. Where is ABC going to take Grey's now? I mean Grey and McSteamy are getting married and are together with less drama (at least for now) and , as the season finale leads us to believe, George and Izzy are , well most likely dead (although Heigl's and Knights exit from Grey's was never confirmed and only rumored so we don't know for sure). But if Knight is really leaving, then we need a George like character to take his place. TV shows tend to do that, or so I noticed. They'll always replace a certain type of character with a different character of the same type. Take , for example, the exit of George Clooney (Dr. Doug Ross) from E.R.. That same year we got Goran Visnjic as Dr. Kovac. I kind of felt like they were the same very handsome dark hair, dark eyes and mysterious single guy character.. like Kovac brought similar elements to the show that Dr. Ross had (although Kovac wasn't as much of a womanizer).

Oh boy.. I'm so excited. I just think that is it. We'll have to wait till fall to see if I'm right. I can't see him on Desperate Housewives and I know it must be one of ABC's top shows as that is why they are keeping it so hush hush. Feel free to leave a comment and share your theories below!

The Listener, More insight into "V", New Heroes Cast Member & More

There are a lot of little things to blog about today.

First, let's talk about NBC's new scripted Canadian show 'The Listener' that premiered last night with two back to back episodes. If you missed it, the story is about an EMT who has a special ability to "hear" people's thoughts. He's a telepath (a form of psychic ability). He manages to hear things and know things that help people. Trick is no one can know about his gifts which complicates his ability to get his warnings or the special inside knowledge he has heard.

I liked the show well enough. I like the as yet revealed back story as to who this guy is, his past , etc. It wasn't a very WOW! THIS IS GOOD type of show. However, there are a lot of elements that give this show a lot to work with, which I like. I hope NBC gives it a real chance for it to catch and develop itself a little and aren't so quick to 'ax' it like networks tend to do these days. The fickleness of the networks and the American viewing public however, makes me think that it may not live long enough. According to the numbers from PIfeedback.com, the listener finished #4 in it's 9pm hour and #3 in it's second hour with 5.25M and 5.35M viewers. That may sound like a lot, but to give you some idea of what that actually means you need to compare it to the #1 shows on the networks. For example 'CSI' is CBS #1 drama with an approx average of 19M viewers. NBC's 'Heroes' has over 10M on average. In comparison 5.25M is not cutting the mustard. It is important to note, however, that the NBA finals dominated the evening in ratings and could be what hurt 'The Listener'. That, and there isn't much "buzz" leading into new summer series as there are for the fall ones.

'I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here' continued it's fade. Wednesday night it dipped to 4.8M viewers. Last night, however, it slightly increased to 5.17M. That is still not looking so good. I have not yet caught up and am only half way through Tuesday's episode. Again, that's because I recorded it in my bedroom the first few nights. I have since relocated it to the living room so that I can watch it and be pretty caught up.

If any of you were a fan of 'Prison Break', which ended this past season, you may be happy to hear that Robert Knepper, who played Theodore "T-Bag" Bagwell on the series has just been cast as a new villain in NBC's Heroes for this coming season (production starts this week). He makes a good villain.

This article from Variety talks about a writer signed on to Warner Brothers Television as a showrunner for "V" coming this fall. Through the article I was able to get a little more insight into the series. To share, here is a quote from the article;

Just as the original "V" used the story of an alien invasion as an allegory for Nazi Germany, the new "V" will tackle issues of government, devotion, race and faith.

Also, according to ABC, the show is going to have a set beginning, middle and end with its finale date pretty much set (similar to how 'Lost' had set it's finale date years in advance). I like knowing that there is going to be a complete "circle" for this series already established before it begins. This insight makes me even more psyched for the series premiere this fall.

For all you Heath Ledger fans (I am one of them) Cable Channel Ovation TV will be developing an hour long documentary on Heath Ledger's life that will run during it's "Live Fast, Die Young" week which will include documentaries on other stars who died young including Janis Joplin, Marilyn Monroe , Jimmy Hendrix and more. That does sound interesting. I don't necessarily watch or DVR those shows, but I may tune in if I know when and on what channel I can find it. I did so like Heath Ledger. He was very talented. It will be coming sometime this fall.

My 'I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here' Blog

Well, I finally got around to watching 'I'm a Celebrity Get Met Out of Here' today, the first episode at least. Reason it took awhile is because I only had it set to record in the bedroom and I don't spend much time watching TV in there. Note to self; set the DVR in the living room to record it.

I was pleasantly surprised actually. I thought it would be just horrible and was only going to watch it out of curiosity. I figured it would be a bunch of whinny celebrities complaining about "roughing" it. With the exception of the Pratts, the rest of the gang is , at least so far, sucking it up and hanging in there.

But then, perhaps I feel that way only because you wouldn't catch me dead in any sort of jungle and most definately wouldn't catch me laying around with those bugs ala the very first immunity challenge. Never mind eating the gross items they had them eat.

Most, no all , of the celebrities are "B" celebrities, mind you. I never heard of the Wrestler chick nor the two comedians , the basketball player and then the politicians wife. Of course,I have heard of Sanjaya from Idol and the Pratts (even though I don't watch the hills) and then of course Dickinson. Once I would love to see an "A" Lister doing that show, but I doubt that would ever happen.

The only two who delivered exactly what I expected from the entire bunch were Heidi and Spencer Pratt. Although I must say that Heidi surprised me a bit as she ate the gross stuff. Good for her. But, what the hell is she thinking being with that idiot Spencer? I didn't know what they were like before I tuned into this show as I didn't watch the Hills. I knew only the few tidbits you pick up in the tabloids about them. Spencer is a complete (expletive here!). I don't care if he is putting on an act to be the "bad boy" he's just ridiculous. He's really nauseating. He is just a spoiled, arrogant brat. Funny thing is, is that he "prays". How hypocritical can you get? On the one hand you are "religious" and "spiritual" with your praying to Jesus, but then you turn around and be a complete..well mean spirited jerk off! (Roll eyes here) Sheesh. Honestly, I could do without him on that show. So far Heidi is not all that bad, accept she's his little puppy dog (or so it seems). I would not tune in to watch him on anything. I would tune in even if he wasn't on the show. I don't know why the hell America makes people like him into celebrities.

There was one question in the back of my mind the entire time. I was wondering if they really were "outdoors" in the "jungle", or were they in an elaborate studio set made to look like the jungle? Some parts of it just looked like it was a "fake" setting. But who cares, it's still interesting to watch.

I look forward to watching Tuesday and Thursday's episode. Yeah Wednesday is missing because for some odd reason my DVR didn't record it! I hate when that happens. It doesn't too often, but it stinks when it does.

Okay, so now you know how I liked the show. But, did the viewing audience tune in? Well, according to Marc Berman at PIFeedback.com an average of 6.35M tuned in to the premiere of the show and it's viewership grew to the lead in Medium (which, btw, average 7.38M viewers. Go Medium! It was an excellent season ending and glad it's coming back on CBS this fall!). The viewership for Tuesday night was an average of 5.5M viewers and Wednesday dipped further to 4.79M into third. So, while it started strong it is fading. I wonder how it will fair in tonight's ratings?

As as a little side note, Mental dipped by 720K viewers in it's second week and lost 24% of it's viewers in the 18-49 demographic. Ouch!! I knew that show was not going to last.

Conclusion; Celebrity is definitely fluff, but not as fluffy as I had expected.

DVR ALERT: New show 'Listener' Premieres tonight on NBC at 9pm!!

CBS Legal Drama - The Good Wife - Looks Very DVR Worthy

This season CBS is adding the legal drama The Good Wife to it's line up on Tuesday's at 10pm opposite ABC's new show The Forgotten and NBC's The Jay Leno Show. It stars Julianna Margulies (ER) , Matt Czuchry (Friday Night Lights) and Christine Baranski (Ugly Betty).

Going by the preview and behind the scenes look I must say , it is looking good. First, it's great to see Julianna Margulies return to TV again with another legal drama after FOX's Canterbury Law was canceled. Canterbury's was an excellent show and Margulies was excellent in it. It was another good show that didn't survive. Chris Noth (Sex In the City) plays Peter, the husband of Margulies's character Alicia Flick, and a politician whose extra marital affairs become public and lands him in jail. Margulies's character then returns to practicing law. While there is law and legal issues going on within this show, the true focus is on Margulies's character Alicia.

It's obvious where the idea for the series came from (think Eliot Spitzer, John Edwards, Bill Clinton). While fictional, it does explore the behind- closed- doors- and -walls life of a woman in the aftermath of her husbands very public betrayal.

I believe this show is a keeper. The characters look well developed and it has an excellent cast with a mix of seasoned actors/actresses as well as a few fresh faces as the young attorneys that Margulies's character must contend with. It's in a good time slot and isn't competing against any already heavy hitters (depending on how Leno fairs at the earlier time slot). Now, let's hope that the rest of the American public agrees and this show goes the distance. Based on the preview, I give it a thumbs up!

A Few TV News Tidbits - Octo-Mom gets Reality TV Deal, Kung Fu Panda Series coming and more..

Hey everyone. There are a couple of tidbits of news out there that I thought I would share on my blog.

The first is about the Octo-mom from Southern California who gave birth to the world's longest surviving octuplets. She just signed a deal for a reality TV show with 3Ball. They are a subsidiary of an Amsterdam-based Eyeworks International. The company has yet to sell the series to an American TV station, but they are looking for a buyer. The show will allow Suleman to do some of the filming herself with her own camera and is apparently modeled after a TV series in Denmark that follows the lives of 4 children from the day they are born until they are adults.

I wonder what network here in the States would pick it up. I'm guessing it will be TLC. Would you watch? I don't know if I would. I haven't watched any of the other shows like Jack & Kate Plus 8 (I must say that I'm a little sorry that I haven't watched it, given all the buzz surrounding the couple lately. I may just start tuning in). I might watch out of curiosity. I'll admit that I've kind of judged this woman a little based on the situation alone and I think she is a nut job. I mean HOW... HOW do you go ahead as an unmarried and unemployed woman and get yourself artificially inseminated then give birth to not 1 but 8 kids!! And you already have 6 kids at home. I would personally like to sit down with her doctor and ask him what the hell was he thinking going ahead with doing the procedure and going through with the entire thing. It's a little outrageous to me. For that exact reason her reality show will most likely be a big hit. We'll all watch it out of curiosity.

For all my fellow mommies (okay and daddies too) that read my blog, Kung Fu Panda will be a series on Nickolodeon. They just ordered 26 episodes. Their other deal with Dreamworks Animation SKG "The Penguins of Madagascar" ranked as the number 1 series premiere in the networks history with 6.1M viewers! Wish I would have been paying more attention and I would have known about the Madagascar series. My son would love it, and I know he's going to absolutely love Kung Fu Panda. He watches the movie all the time and has his panda pajamas that he loves to wear. It will be on sometime in 2010.

Brian Austin Green (Original Beverly Hills 90210 and Terminator Sarah Connor Chronicles) is in talks with the CW to join One Tree Hill as a regular. His role will be Clayton, a sports agent representing Nathan Scott's basketball interest. I never did watch One Tree Hill, although it did look like an interesting show. I already have such a full roster of shows there wasn't room for it in mine. I did want to share the news with anyone who is an OTH fan or a Brian Austin Green fan. I am from his 9210 days. I was happy to see him in Terminator... and sad to see it canceled., although he was killed off anyway in the second to last aired show.

Last but not least , although it's late, I hope you have your DVR set for I'm A Celebrity Get me Out of Here on right now. I'll be watching that later with the hubby. Be sure to check back to the blog tomorrow to hear what I thought of it, and what the Nielsen numbers say about the future of the show. Should be interesting.

DVR ALERT - Catch up on Seasons 1-3 of DEXTER so you can watch John Lithgow join the cast for Season 4

'Dexter' exclusive: John Lithgow nabs killer role

Shared via AddThis

Dexter is an excellent show on Showtime. I must admit I did not watch the first or second season. It so happened that my husband, out of boredom, was searching for something to watch and came across the first season DVD set of Dexter. So, he purchased it and watched it and told me how great it was. So, when we moved and subscribed to cable, we chose Showtime as part of our package so that he can watch Dexter rather than wait for it to come out on DVD. I started watching with my husband and, despite my initial reaction to the premise of the show, I must admit it is a really good. It didn't hurt that I am a fan of Michael C. Hall from his Six Feet Under Days. I found that despite what he is, a serial killer, I began to root for Dexter. After all, he only kills bad people. That's his motto, that's his code. I bet we all wish that somewhere deep down inside there was such a person to rid this world of the bad people like child molesters , etc. I will admit that I was a little lost here in there because there were things that I missed having not seen the first season and the second season.

I came across the article above about John Lithgow joining the cast as a serial killer that comes to Miami. Lithgow plays crazy quite well and I do look forward to watching him.

For all those that have not been watching Dexter they are running all 3 seasons on Showtime starting tonight at 8pm with three back to back episodes and every Sunday thereafter throughout the summer. Great thing about subscription channels like Showtime is that you can watch the shows on demand and you do not have to use up space on your DVRs to watch it. Since they are running all three seasons, you should be able to get them on their on demand channel (because most often they do not have all the previous seasons available for viewing). If you haven't watched Dexter, I suggest you give it a try. Despite the turn off of the initial premise, it is quite a good show and Dexter is actually a character you can grow to like. I will be catching up to see exactly what I missed in Seasons 1 & 2.

P.S. - Hall was so good as the gay David Fisher on Six Feet Under that I thought he must be gay in his real life. Turns out he's not. He married his costar on Dexter, Jennifer Capenter, (who plays his on screen sister Debra Morgan) this past New Years Eve.

My Take on the Four Medical Dramas Coming This Fall and Their Preview

Anyone who knows me knows what a huge fan of ER I have been over the last almost 15 years. I've faithfully watched that show from the first episode to its last. Even when the show started to decline at the end. You also know that Grey's Anatomy is probably my #1 favorite show on TV. I've always enjoyed watching medical dramas. I'm a person that likes to be moved emotionally when I watch TV and yes even emotionally scarred ala the season finale of Grey's..LOL. Medical dramas are always filled with that emotion. How could it not be? ABC with Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice along with FOX with House are now the dominant medical drama ratings grabbers. NBC needs a show to take ER's place and CBS is more crime heavy (think NCIS, CSI) with no really strong medical drama's to capture Grey's fans.

There are four such shows slated to debut this Fall (two will debut mid-season) with two from CBS and two from NBC.

The first one, Three Rivers, is scheduled at 9pm on Sundays on CBS. Its focus is on organ transplants at a fictional Three River's Hospital (a #1 transplant facility) from three points of views ; the donor and the donor's family, the recipient and of course the team of surgeons at the hospital. It stars Alex O'Loughlin (the hottie from the canceled CBS series Moonlight) , film star Julia Ormond (another example of big screen to small screen moves), Daniel Henney and Katherine Moening. I am a fan of O'Loughlin (what straight warm blooded woman wouldn't be..LOL) and the acting chops of Julia Ormand make this show extremely promising to go the distance.

The second series on CBS , Miami Trauma from creator Jerry Bruckheimer, is slated for mid-season and stars Richard Doyle, Elisabeth Hamois, Jeremy Wortham and Lana Parrilla. Its focus is on a team of trauma surgeons at a Miami Hospital that is purely a trauma hospital. While the show overall looks good, compared to the other medical dramas already on TV and those slated for this coming season, this one seems the least promising. We all know that not every series that airs will make it. As a matter of fact it is more probable for any show that it will not get picked up or renewed. And there is only so much room for medical dramas on TV and with the public. If I were to pick one new medical show this year, based on the previews alone, that would end up not making the long haul this would be my pick. Of course I'm basing that on the preview alone. It is the one that least excited me. But, of course, my DVR will be set to record when this shows day and time are announced mid season.

NBC has Mercy, slated for mid-season, and Trauma.

The first, Mercy, focuses on the daily happenings of a hospital from the point of view of the nurses. I liked that idea already. It's like watching ER but focusing on the Nurse Hathoways only with more grit. It stars Taylor Schilling (Dark Matter), Michelle Trachlenberg (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) and Jamie Lee Kirchner (Rescue Me). Trachlenberg's character is the green nurse in the bunch and very much reminds me of the Carter character (played by Noah Wyle) in ER at the series start. It's got a great dose of humor combined with the drama you expect to see in such a show. For me, that is a winning combination.

However, if there is only one medical series that could join the ranks of ER & Greys this year I am going to have to say that hands down it will be Trauma, scheduled for Monday nights at 9pm, that is the winner! Wow.. talk about an adrenaline rush. This series focuses on the EMT's that respond to medical emergencies (reminiscent of the series Emergency that aired from 1972-79 that I used to watch in syndication as a girl only better!). It's like taking all the best action packed on the edge of your seat medical drama from those episodes of ER and Grey's where they were outside of the hospital (think George Clooney when his character saved that boy from drowning in a drain pipe, or whenever any of the doctors were present at a disaster such as building explosions or multiple car crashes) or the episodes of Third Watch with the best paramedic traumas (think episode 49 entitled "The Price of Nobility" where Amy Carlson's character Alex Taylor ends up the victim of a vehicle explosion when trying to save a victim) and putting that in every episode for an hour! If this show turns out to be a dud, then the person or persons that put together that preview deserves to win an Emmy for that alone, it is that good. It stars Derek Luke (Notorious), Cliff Curtis (10,000 BC), Anastasia Griffith (Damages) and Jamey Sheridan (Law & Order: Criminal Intent) . This is the medical drama that I am most looking forward to this season.

So, in conclusion, my favorite is Trauma, followed by Mercy, Three Rivers and then Miami Trauma.
